Sister Helen Prejean will speak in Lorimer Chapel at Colby College on Monday, February 12th at 7:00PM. The event is free and open to the public. Sr. Helen has been engaged in prison ministry for over 35 years and became spiritual advisor to Patrick Sonnier who was sentenced to die by electric chair by the state of Louisiana. Her experience became the Book Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty. In 1996, the book was adapted into a major film, starring Susan Sarandon as Helen Prejean (film screening Thursday 2/8, 7:30 pm, Lovejoy 100).
